David Gergen, a veteran of Washington politics and an adviser to four presidents in a career spanning decades in government, academia and media, has died. He was 83.

Lee Elia, a former major league player and coach who was managing the Chicago Cubs in 1983 when he famously criticized the team's fans in a memorable postgame rant, has died. He was 87. The Philadelphia Phillies said Elia died on Wednesday.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Frank Layden, the sharp-witted former coach who led the Utah Jazz to the playoffs for the first time, has died. He was 93.

Joe Coleman, a lanky right-hander who won 142 games in 15 major league seasons and was an All-Star in 1972 with Detroit, died Wednesday morning, his son said. He was 78. Casey Coleman said his father died in his sleep in Jamestown, Tennessee.

NEW YORK (AP) — Alan G. Hassenfeld, a renowned philanthropist and former CEO of iconic toy company Hasbro Inc., the maker of G.I. Joe and Play-Doh, has died. He was 76, according to the toy company.
