Andrews, Beatrice Isabel (nee Barton)
February 14, 1932 - December 27, 2022
Our beloved Mother, Grannie, Great Grannie, Sister and Aunt Isabel died at the age of 90 years at Barrhead Keir Care.
Isabel was loved and will be missed and remembered by her sons, Leonard (Linda), Don, and Dale, Sister Jean Rurka and brother Bill Barton, as well as 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, as well as one niece and one nephew, grandniece and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Ada Barton, George Andrews Sr. and brother Robert Barton.
Isabel was born in Edmonton and grew up on the Barton family farm in Roselea and Stewartfield. She attended Craven School and then High School in Barrhead. In 1950 she married George Andrews Sr. and together they farmed the Andrews homestead. Mom was a true farm wife - along with milking cows, tending livestock she kept a large garden and did her canning and pickling every summer. She also took up sewing and even quilting - her hands were seldom idle. She was involved with the 4-H Club as her sons were raising their livestock. A lifelong learner, she loved teaching her grandchildren about farming, cooking, and baking.
After her move to Barrhead Mum put her passion into the garden and her English Style flower garden, which was her pride and joy. She was also a lifelong member of the United Church at Mosside and was the Secretary-Treasurer for many years.
Grannie’s buns fresh from the oven and her pickles were part of the joy for her kids and grandkids when they visited.
The family would like to thank the staff at Keir Care, Dr. Bernes, and Dr. Tawfik for their kind care of our Isabel.
Funeral arrangements will take place in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial contributions be made to Mosside Anges Memorial United Church (c/o Carolyn Bajer, Box 3 Site 4 RR #2, Barrhead, AB T7N 1N3).
