BOLTON, Rose Helen Whitehead

May 26th, 1944 – October 28th, 2021

It is with deep sorrow and much love, that we the family mourn the passing of Rose of Westlock, AB on the 28th of October at the age 77 years.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years Norrie Bolton; son, Douglas Whitehead; and grandson, Real Hinse.

She will be remembered by son; Dennis (Sally); grandson, Denis; granddaughters, Jennifer, Ashley, Stephanie, Erica and Denise; great granddaughter Mackenzie; great grandson Zane; daughter Nettie; grandson Christian (Kaitlyn), granddaughters, Desiree, Jacqueline; great grandsons Brutus, Alexander; granddaughter, Chantel (Jordy) as well as numerous relatives and friends.

She will be dearly missed by her Bingo friends at the Monday night Elks Hall in Westlock. Bornby Harmon Valley, Alberta to Peter Whitehead and Gene Capot. Rose had a normal first few years, until she was pulled from her family and placed in a residential school at the early age of 6-year-old until she was 16 or 17 years old. From Grourde to Nampa is where she found her first job, working for her soon to be her future husband. They married in Nampa on Sept 13th,1965. That June they welcomed their first bundle of joy a son they named Douglas James, the following year they welcomed their second son, which they named Dennis John after a happy life of farming in the summer and running a grader in the winter. They decided to settle down in a place just for them without the extra hassle of packing water, chopping wood and cold mornings in a cramped shack to a little house on the prairie. Following 10 years of that lifestyle their daughter was born in August, 77. They worked close to and always for each other over the years. In 89 while her eldest son Douglas was coming home for Christmas tragedy struck and the family buried their boy that holiday season. No holidays were ever the same after that. All winter we’d rent a place while dad, worked out in the muskeg cutting roads in and until springing breakup came. We hardly saw or heard from him. So, mom did everything she could for herself and her kids either she was berry and dandelion picking and showing off her homemaking skills sewing, knitting, she could do it all.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Rose’s name to the: Epilepsy Association of Edmonton 11215 Groat Road NW Edmonton, AB T5M 3K2 Or Epilepsy Association of Calgary 316 4014 MacLeod Trail SE Calgary, AB T2G 2R7 The Family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Westlock Healthcare the Westlock Homecare, and the EMT’s that have cared and supported Mom all thru the years.
