Burchett, Rose

November 9, 1932 - October 12, 2022

The family announces the passing of Rose at the age of 89 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Norman.

Rose spent her childhood on a farm in the Jarvie area. She moved to Westlock to be a telephone operator, where she met Norman. She spent the next 20 years raising their family in Westlock, growing a huge garden, and canning and preserving the harvest, an activity she enjoyed all her life. Rose volunteered in several capacities over the years but her favourite volunteer job was with the Westlock library for over 30 years.

Upon retirement Rose and Norman returned to the Jarvie area to a hobby farm. Rose raised many animals, but her favourites were her goats. Rose and Norman enjoyed acreage life for 21 years.

Then it was back to Westlock to the Smithfield lodge. Rose resumed volunteering by running the library, gardening, and leading the daily exercise class.

At Rose’s request there will not be a funeral service but her ashes will be spread with Norman’s on the banks of the Pembina River.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Rose’s charity of choice for many years, 11560 University Ave, Edmonton, AB, T6G 1Z2.

Roses family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Westlock hospital for their kindness and compassion and to the staff at Smithfield Lodge for their love and kindness shown to both Rose and Norman for the past 19 years.

Expressions of Sympathy may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.westlockfuneralhome.com.
