Gladys Martha Degen (nee Litke)
January 4th, 1931 – August 30th, 2021
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gladys Degen at the age of 90. Gladys was a beloved wife and cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her memory will always be treasured by her husband Oscar; her 3 children Rita (Brian) McKinnon, Dwayne Degen and Ross (Angie) Degen; 7 grandchildren Chris (Dawn) Degen, Jocelyn (Einar) Olsen, Damon Degen, Reed (Steph) McKinnon, Becky McKinnon (Sean), Derrek (Sarah) Degen, Rylee Degen;
10 great-grandchildren Lily Anne, Lilly, Mathias, Hazell, Thorsten, Pernilla, Oliver, Brielle, Kaisley, Daxton, as well as brothers, sisters, and many long time friends.
Gladys will always be remembered for her tireless work within the Tiger Lily community and St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. Above all, it was clear Gladys took great pride in being a grandmother and great grandmother. She made a huge impact and lasting memories in the lives of her seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Everyone looked forward to visits to Grandma’s farm and sitting around the kitchen table enjoying home cooked meals and card games. She will truly be missed.
The Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 3, 2021
at 10:30 a.m. in the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Barrhead,
AB, reception followed with burial at St. Michael’s Lutheran Cemetery in Mystery Lake, AB.
We would like to thank the Continuing Care Centre for the care and compassion they provided to Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Site 4, Box 89, RR2, Barrhead, AB T7N 1N3.
