FORTIER, DARCY

August 24, 1971 – July 27, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Darcy at the age of 52. For the last two years Darcy fought a strong battle against Pancreatic cancer. He fought on his terms and passed on his terms peacefully with his family at his side. Mourning his loss are his pride and joy, his sons, Luc and Gavin, his partner, Piper Pavlovic, his parents Leo and Sylvia Fortier and his sisters Michelle (Kelvin) Schram, Jackie (Michael) Huppertz and Aimee Fortier. His nieces and nephews, Zachary (Suzanne) Schram, Taylor (Tom) Zadunayski, Cole, Kaylee and Heidi Huppertz and Keenan Fortier as well as his two great nieces Isabella and Ellarie.

Darcy was born in Westlock and spent the first 18 years growing up on the family farm near Vimy. He then attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton graduating with his Medical Laboratory Sciences degree. That degree would take him from Canada to the bright lights and loud sounds of Las Vegas to start his career. He then moved to Tucson, Arizona and then his final home of Gilbert, Arizona.

Family was everything to Darcy. With family being so far away, Darcy made friends everywhere he lived that soon became his family. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. He loved camping with his boys and took up running. Even though he lived far away, he was still a true Oilers fan. Darcy was a caring and fun loving person, you always knew when he was in the room. We will remember him for his amazing determination and sense of humour. He was so loved and will be greatly missed.

Darcy was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Rosario and Laura Fortier and maternal grandparents Lucien and Yvette Fagnan.

There will be a celebration of life for Darcy on Saturday, August 31st at 11:00 am at the Westlock Memorial Hall located at 9903 106 St, Westlock.

Donations can be made to the Ben Stelter Foundation online or to a charity of one’s choice.
