KERIK, Stewart Duane “Buck”
August 16, 1935 - July 4, 2022
On July 4, 2022 Dad passed away peacefully in the Westlock Hospital. We are comforted knowing he is with our Mom so quickly.
Duane will be lovingly remembered by his children Sherry (Dennis) Holyk, Murray (Debbie) Kerik and Karen (Layne) Hutchinson; 5 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren; brother Denis (Iris) Kerik, sister-in-law Jean Kerik; Arlene’s brothers Ray (Ann) Duncan and Duane (Lois) Duncan; numerous relatives and friends.
Predeceased by parents Jack and Betty, brothers and sisters-in-law: Jim (Betty), Steve (Peggy), Gordon, Chester (Pauline), Keith (Louise); and loving wife of 66 years Arlene one month prior.
Duane “Buck” Kerik was born August 16, 1935 in the Cross Lake, Alberta area to Jack & Betty Kerik, the 4th son of 7. On August 24, 1956 Duane married the love of his life, Arlene Duncan. He spent 19 years as a Fish &Wildlife Officer throughout Northern Alberta, then 8 years with Canfor in Grande Prairie, Alberta before moving to Flatbush, Alberta in 1978 to farm and log with brothers Jim & Gordon. Duane then farmed with his son, Murray, from 1986 until his passing. In 1995 he became the first Reeve of The MD of Lesser Slave Lake, serving 2 terms. Duane had a joyful, huge personality and made many friends along the way!
A Memorial Service will be held on July 23, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Flatbush Recreation Complex -everyone is welcome to come and share stories and memories.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Smithfield Lodge in Westlock, Westlock Home Care and Westlock Hospital palliative care for the exceptional care Dad received.
