Lorimer, Mariea (Mary)

On Sunday, January 31, 2021 Mariea (Mary) Lorimer of Westlock passed away at the age of 91.

Mary was born in 1930, three years after her parents Oscar and Emilie Schlenker emigrated from Bessarabia, Romania. She grew up on a farm near Castor, Alberta.

She married in 1951 and worked alongside her husband James (Jim) Sutherland Lorimer on a small farm near Highridge, Alberta. When Jim passed away in 1996, Mary moved to Westlock where she started her 18-year career as a volunteer at the Westlock Thrift Store. She lived her last ten years at Smithfield Lodge where she helped and participated in the recreational program. Mary’s hands were seldom idle. She created many cross-stitch projects and acrylic paintings.

Mary is predeceased by her husband Jim and her son Dave Bentley, her parents and her four sisters.

She leaves to mourn her children, Norma (Clarence), Shirley (Len), Gerry (Shelley), eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a precious great-great grandson as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Given current pandemic health restrictions services will be limited to immediate family. View service through https://youtu.be/evgRcw-aWqI starting at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 6, 2021.
