MALISH, Katherine (Kay)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Katherine (Kay) Malish of Clyde, AB, on February 11th, 2022. She is lovingly remembered by family and friends. Kay was born on November 20, 1942, in Thorhild, AB, the eldest of four children.

She is predeceased by her husband Adol Malish (2005), son Douglas Malish (2015), and her parents, Steve and Mary Ewasiw.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Laval (Kent) Means and their children Kira & Logan of Missoula, Montana; son David (Holly) Malish and their children Kelly & Haley of Kelowna, B.C.; her daughter Kim Coffin and her children Nathan & Nicole of Spruce Grove, AB; her brothers Roy(Fran) Ewasiw, Henry(Janice) Ewasiw, and Ellen Bilida.

Raised on a farm west of Thorhild, she met Adol, the love of her life. In 1960, they married and started their family. In 1963, they bought the Clyde Hotel and become actively involved in the catholic church, the curling club, and the community/Ag Society. Kay was the glue that held the family together. She had the amazing ability to balance work with family life. She would often be found behind the counter at the Hotel; doing the books for the family trucking business; transporting the kids to various activities; or baking amazing chiffon cakes or pies for community events in Clyde and Waugh. She shared her love with anyone that walked through the door. That love lives on with all of us.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, February 21, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Clyde, AB. with Interment at the Clyde Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to the Clyde Ag. Society.
