Wendy was the second child of 10 born to Paul and Rhoda Nyal, and she grew up in Clyde, AB. Theirs was a close, strong family. and her siblings will tell you that she was the one that was always there for them and kept them all anchored. At 15 she met Cliff Pankonin, and in 1966 became his bride; together they made a life on the farm for themselves and their 3 children. She made the house their home. Wendy loved to travel and cruised to Rome with her sisters, Panama with Cliff, and flew to Ireland with Cliff and Darlene. Through the years she drove the Community Bus, worked at Thor’s Store in Dapp, and then at Canada Post in Westlock. She liked to hang out in the pot house to throw pottery with her sisters until she couldn’t work with the clay anymore. Her life was filled with love for her family and friends, but she had a great passion for flower gardening. Her yard was always beautiful with flowering trees and flower beds - lots of flower beds.

Wendy was a caring and giving woman who always put the needs of family before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge with courage and dignity.
