PRODANIUK, VALERIE JOAN
1948 - 2020
Valerie Joan Prodaniuk passed away peacefully on November 30, 2020.
She will lovingly be remembered by her family, Shawn and Maureen, Redawna and Ted, grandchildren, Vail (Aaron) and Tyler. Valerie is also survived by her dear sister, Shirley, dear sister-in-law, Pat and her brother-in-law, Ed Prodaniuk.
Valerie was born in Sherridon, Manitoba on December 7, 1948 to her wonderful parents, Gordon and Dot Whyte. She was the youngest of their three beautiful
daughters. The family moved to Fort Saskatchewan when Valerie was five years old. This is where she grew up and at the age of sixteen, Valerie met the love of her life, Ron Prodaniuk, it was an instant attraction. Ron and Valerie were married on August 1, 1970 at the United Church in Fort Saskatchewan. The young couple settled in Redwater, Alberta where they became heavily involved with Ron’s Dad’s auction company and after his passing it became their passion. Valerie and her husband, Ron, spent 35 years in the auctioneering business, working side by side. Valerie was noted for being able to remember the hundreds of regular attendees names and bid numbers when they came to register. She loved fine dining, fishing, playing crib and was a master at crossword puzzles. Valerie and Ron loved to travel. They spent many great fishing days at Flathead Lake in Montana and Shaw’s Point at Slave Lake. Their travels took them to Vancouver Island, Hawaii and even to Costa Rica for a year of adventure. Valerie moved to Barrhead in December of 2014 to be close to Ron at his senior care home and to her family. She passed away peacefully in the Barrhead Hospital.
The family of Valerie would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Krantz, Sherri-May, Nursing Director and all of the Nursing Staff on Acute Care and in the Emergency Dept. for their exceptional work and compassionate care given to Valerie. We would also like to send a special thank you and forever grateful to all of the Homecare Team of RN’s, LPN’s and HCA’s who took such wonderful care of Mom at home. Your help and excellent nursing care was greatly appreciated by ourselves and Mom.
At Valerie’s request no formal service will be held.
