Marilyn June SCHMIDT
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marilyn June Schmidt on August 5, 2025 at age 84.
She leaves behind her husband Jacob (Jack) of 66 years to cherished untold memories.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter Deborah, son Gerald (Stephina) and one sister Patricia Hasenuik. In addition, two granddaughters, Marissa (Jonathan), Madison (Dalton) and two great grandchildren Kaila and Jacob Zukiwsky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Son Jacob predeceased her in 2014.
Marilyn served the Edmonton Public Board as an elementary school teacher for many years prior to retiring in 1996. She cherished her annual student class enrolment, many of which remained in personal contact even after going to University, getting married, etc.
In 1985 Marilyn moved to Westlock County to reside in the new home that was built on the family farm in 1985. This opportunity is taken to express our sincerest gratitude to the first responders, Stars Air Ambulance, Westlock Health Care Centre, and the staff at the University of Alberta Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the Westlock Funeral Home, 10004 - 105 street in Westlock, Alberta at 11:00 AM followed by a light lunch to be served prior to interment at the Vega, Alberta cemetery.
