Ida Lydia Schulz
Ida Lydia Schulz (Breitkreutz) passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, a week before her 90th birthday, in Edmonton, AB. Born in Golden Spike, AB to Edmund and Lydia Breitkreutz, she was the last living of six children (Selma, Elfrieda, Samuel, Herb, Ida, and Elmer). Ida was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 41 years, Leo Schulz. Together they enjoyed life on the farm near Barrhead, AB, proudly raising 4 children there: Ron (Brenda), Ken, Russell (Jane), and Bernadette (Kenton). They also received great joy from their 12 grandchildren Caleb (Michèle), Heather, Erin, Andrea (Jordan), Megan, Kaitlin (Joel), Danica (Volodymyr), Joshua, Simon, Jacob, Jayda, and Matthew, and 3 great-grandchildren Josie, Edmond, and Louis.
In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandma, Ida loved being a sister, an aunt, a teacher, a farmer, a singer, a pianist, a volunteer, and friend. She always had a bright smile on her face and a song in her heart. She leaves a legacy of Christian faith and community spirit.
A service will be held to celebrate her life Thursday, July 24 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Pentecostal Church in Barrhead, AB, with a lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Ida to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
