Hanna Thompson
Hanna Hansine Thompson was born January 30, 1931 in Enchant Alberta and went home quickly and peacefully at Shepherds Care December 11, 2021 in Barrhead Alberta, at the age of 90.
Hanna is survived by her son Lindy (Sanjani) also of Barrhead, her daughters Shiela of Maple Ridge and Michelle of Calgary. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Linnette, Shawna (Doug), Lucas, Tanya and Kremma (Rahul) and eight great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Tristan, Isabella, Jared, Drew, Teagan, Audina and Araav. Also surviving Hanna are 5 siblings, Marion Sjodin, Norman, Marvin (Patti), Larry (Noreen), Dwayne (Diana) Lindstrom, in addition, to scores of cousins throughout Canada and the world.
Hanna is preceded in death by her husband Leonard (of 69 years), her son Kevin, her parents, John and Jennie and four siblings, Mildred, Oliver, Joyce, and Gerald.
She married Len March 28, 1951 and moved to Edmonton, AB and this couple had four children in 12 years. Hanna was a hard worker, not only as a mother but took in boarders, caring for many babies of single mom’s so the mothers could continue their education. Over the years she worked at Eatons department store, custodial/janitorial duties in hotels and care facilities, held various positions at Canex Placer mines, and was partner in Triangle Enterprizes. Hanna was very creative and skilled with all kinds of arts and crafts. She loved to sing and played various instruments by “ear”. Both her and her husband played music and sang in various local gospel groups for the Seniors in Barrhead. She had a “green thumb” and could grow any type of household flower. Coming from a large family, Hanna had a special talent to ensure everything was “fair” and treated everyone equal. She always had a special gift of creating fond Christmas memories. Hanna and family had many adventures on various vacations and upon retirement her and Len went on many out of county trips, which she loved, especially to warm counties.
