Dear Editor, The UCP “Blue Ribbon” panel came out Tuesday Sept. 3 stated that the province of Alberta has a spending problem, paying more for education and health care than other provinces, and we need to rein in spending to help solve the problem.

Just how much are Barrhead residents prepared to pay for policing services? That is the question that comes to mind after we had a chance to listen to a discussion Town of Barrhead councillors had regarding policing during their Sept. 11 meeting.

With a week left to go before the Sept. 17 Westlock County Div. 5 byelection, we remain stunned by the interest shown.

I think Woodlands County Fort Assiniboine councillor Dale Kluin said it best: it is time for councillors to show some leadership and say no to a pay increase. Unfortunately, that is not what they did last week.

Dear Editor, Two weeks ago I had a heart attack and I would just like to tell you a little about my experience. After dialing 911 — three EMT ladies arrived and after stabilizing me, took me to the Royal Alexandra Cardiac Unit in Edmonton.

Reading the education portion of the report by the Blue Ribbon Panel on Alberta’s Finances is a bit like watching a golf ball land on the green, stop just short of going in the hole and then roll backwards several feet.

So we're losing the Greyhound bus service. Now what are we going to do about it? Many rural communities are already living without having this bus service. In communities like Athabasca, the service was also timed inconveniently for many users.
