The municipal inspection is out. Most of it shouldn’t be a surprise. In fact, most of what’s contained inside should look familiar to readers.

The regional collaboration study is out after more than a year in the works and while some of the recommendations are expected — combining and cost-sharing regional utilities — others like shutting down the ski hill are not.

One of the things that raises my ire as a reporter is when someone says something is essential, when really it is not. Take for example, the newly built aquatic centre.

Well, that was quite the party, wasn’t it? The 103rd Westlock and District Agricultural Fair has rolled through town, bringing in a massive boost to our local economy and showcasing the finer points of our community.

In our Aug. 8 issue we published a story about Barrhead town councillors decision to deny a request to waive the normal aquatics centre entrance fee for Blue Heron Support Services Association support workers when accompanying their clients.

I love watching demolition derbies. They rank right up there with monster truck car crushing events as some of my fonder youthful memories.
