Hubert Lake Wildland Park wildfire alert

Residents in the area are advised to prepare to evacuate.

The Hubert Lake Wildland wildfire has grown significantly since 5 pm.

The 7:30 p.m. update on the Alberta Government alert map reported that the wildfire has grown to 594 hectares.

The Westlock County website has issued a wildfire alert at 7:30 p.m. for the area of Township Road 635 between Range Road 15 and Range Road 24.

The affected area is south and east of Hubert Lake Provincial Park within Westlock County.

This area is directly south of Fawcett.

Whitecourt Forestry is currently actioning the wildfire in the area.

Westlock County fire crews are on standby to provide structural protection if required.

Westlock County states to residents to be prepared.

The forecast for May 29 predicts a cold front to move into the area.

The weather front combined with a projected wind shift could change the fire behaviour.

Residents are requested to be vigilant and should prepare to evacuate if required.

Items such as pets, medications, and important documents should be gathered ahead of time.
