R.F. Staples students laughed and danced all the way to their Junior High Spring Fling on May 9. The gym was filled with students dressed to the nine's in their best clothing looking to have a good time with their friends. With the lights still on, the DJ Jessica Hugo-Stevens, also a teacher at the school, played various hits from Boney M.'s 'Rasputin' to Katy Perry's 'California Girls' the kids hit most of the moves. The lights dimmed and flashes of red, blue, green and yellow lights as kids took partners to hit the two step.
Some swayed with potential romance in the air while others took the hands of their friends as a display of mutual love. At the back of the room, students picked up various games like Connect 4 and playing cards. A chance for the kids to do what they felt was right for them, even if it wasn't participating in the traditional dance party that comes with spring flings.
