WESTLOCK - Pembina Hills School Division is honouring Ian Glynn, a maths and physics teacher at R.F. Staples for his dedication and positive impact on his students with an Exemplary Teacher Award.
For his students, Glynn is always using his time to benefit them, investing in providing constructive feedback, being available outside of his office hours and being a supportive pillar. He is described as creating a safe space in the classroom for students to ask questions and share ideas. His communication style is said to be open and approachable for all who he connects with while maintaining a positive attitude.
Both students and their families show respect and admiration for his supportive character and excellence as an educator.
But Glynn is not just another teacher to these students, his supportive and respectful environment has been a pillar for students who may be struggling. He is known to help students achieve their personal and academic goals, build confidence and help them find what they are looking for.
His dedication to learning is what makes him a perfect recipient of this award. His teaching style is one that uses real-life situations to connect the concepts taught in the textbook and it also challenges his students to think, to ask questions and to feel confident in their answers.
Glynn’s passion for what and who he is teaching lights a match among students and makes them excited to learn even the hardest of topics. He’s also not one to double down when he gets something wrong. He maintains a curious mindset that strives for growth.
His fellow educators see the tremendous effort he puts into reviewing proposals and providing references that makes him dedicated to ensuring students succeed in their academics and pursue higher learning.
