WESTLOCK - Westlock RCMP have confirmed two arrests have been made and two warrants were issued in a 10 month long drug trafficking investigation.
On May 26, five search warrants were executed by Westlock RCMP with the Edmonton Police Service Tactical unit executing the ones in Edmonton. This resulted in the apprehension of illegal items, two suspects being arrested and two others with issued warrants.
Two Westlock residents, Michael Patrick Krysa (39) and Nathan Stephani (46) were arrested and charged with multiple offences, including five counts of trafficking cocaine. Both are set to appear before court in June. Warrants are out for the arrest of two more Westlock residents Nicole Bombay (28) and Austin McFarlane (27). Both are charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine. A fifth suspect is currently under investigation.
The search warrant resulted in the apprehension of illegal substances including:
- 105.64 grams of cocaine
- Seven firearms
- Three forged identification documents
- $12,705 in Canadian Currency
- 19 cartons of unstamped cigarettes.
In July 2024, Westlock RCMP had received information about cocaine trafficking in the area during one of their monthly Coffee with a cop sessions, which resulted in a bigger investigation. This led to the discovery of potential suppliers in the St. Albert and Edmonton areas.
Westlock RCMP were joined by the Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, St. Albert RCMP City - Drug Unit, RCMP ‘K’ Division Special I, RCMP ‘K’ Division Integrated Offender Management and Edmonton Police Services.
Supt. Anthony Hanson, the Acting District Officer for Eastern Alberta District, said during the press conference on May 27 that “We want to thank the hard working and dedicated members of the Westlock RCMP for moving this investigation forward as they did.”
