The most recent Westlock and District Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting on May 20 highlighted the various events, finances, and challenges faced by the chamber over the past year.

In positive news, the chamber noted the $14,600 profit they had made compared to the $2,000 loss they had recorded the previous year. Among the largest revenue generators for the chamber were the 2024 community awards gala and golf tournament.

The chamber also announced sweeping changes in leadership. Chamber president Graeme Harrington announced his intention to step down in the coming year with vice-president Paul Olsen potentially following in his footsteps.

“It would be nice to get some other volunteers in. If there's anyone else that even wants to come and sit in on some of our meetings with just the group to drum up some different ideas, know that that invitation is out there,” said Olsen.

The chamber is also trying to fill vacancies in the secretary and treasury positions as well as being down a board member.

“We haven't had a ton of turnover over the past six years, and we've had excellent help throughout in the executive and the board positions. It's not a huge time commitment,” said Harrington.
