A Westlock-area couple are dead, while one person was airlifted to an Edmonton hospital after an April 27 head-on collision on Highway 2 near Vimy.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. last Monday, Westlock RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision six kilometres south of Vimy.
The two occupants of a southbound pick-up truck, an 82-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The lone male occupant of the northbound pick-up truck was airlifted by STARS to an Edmonton hospital. RCMP say the occupant suffered serious injuries, but is expected to survive. RCMP say names will not be released. While the cause of the collision remains under investigation, alcohol and road conditions are not factors.
