Wildfire being held near Larkspur, no homes lost

Residents who had previously been asked to evacuate are now permitted to return home.

The fire was out of control heading along the creek towards the campground near the Hidden Valley Golf Course on May 6.

WESTLOCK COUNTY – A wildfire burning south of the Summer Village of Larkspur is now being held, according to a 9:50 p.m. update from Westlock County. Fire crews remain on scene and continue suppression efforts in the area.

Residents who had previously been asked to evacuate are now permitted to return home. Officials confirmed no homes or lives were lost in the incident.

Crews are also continuing to battle a separate fire located south of Fawcett (LCU006). Firefighters are expected to remain on-site through the night to maintain control and ensure the safety of nearby areas.

Residents are urged to stay clear of both locations to allow emergency personnel to continue their work safely and efficiently.

The County says the next update will be issued at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7. Ongoing updates are available on the County’s website.
