The Alberta government is focusing on the “enforcement of rule of law” with new measures introduced last week to address rural crime.

According to the latest RCMP statistics, property crime is on the rise in the Town of Westlock. Westlock RCMP Detachment Staff Sgt. Al Baird presented his quarterly report to town council Oct.

With congregation numbers dwindling over the last few years, the United Church is now being sold due to a lack of funds. The Westlock United Church has put the building on 100 Ave.

The Town of Westlock, as well as Westlock County, will be receiving less in the way of provincial grants following Budget 2019 released Oct. 24.

Arnold Viersen has reclaimed his seat as a Member of Parliament and will return to Ottawa to represent the Peace River-Westlock riding. The incumbent Conservative MP didn’t have any trouble defeating his competitors in the Oct.

Westlock County Coun. Dennis Primeau has been censured by council. The issue will be revisited by council in the spring. It started with a letter to the reeve from Westlock County Coun.

While many of the benefits and consequences of allowing the adult use of recreational cannabis across the country are still being worked out, in Westlock, it doesn’t seem a lot has changed in the last year, but it actually has.
