New Westlock County reeve Bud Massey is ready to take what he has learned in his two months on council and apply it to where he and his fellow councillors want to take the municipality.

A Busby man is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8 to face charges related to the deaths of his son and another man.

Since being elected as the Town of Westlock’s new mayor, Ralph Leriger has been kept busy getting up to speed as his first term in office ramps up.

St. Mary School closed out the Christmas concert season last Friday, Dec. 20 with its Nativity play. The Westlock Regional Water Services Commission held an emergency meeting last Thursday, Dec. 19, to change the wholesale water rate. The new rate will be $2 per cubic metre of water, effective March 1, 2014. This is up from last year’s rate of $1.
