Statistics Canada released the results of the 2016 federal census earlier this month and the region has seen some fluctuation in population. Since the last federal census in 2011, the Town of Westlock saw its population grow 5.

The public will get a chance to share their thoughts on the constituency review next week as the legislative assembly gets set to redraw constituency boundaries in the fall. All are welcome to attend the public hearing at the Westlock Ramada Inn Feb.

Pembina Hills Public Schools (PHPS) Supt. Colleen Symyrozum-Watt says she was taken completely by surprise by an apparent investigation into a personnel issue relating to herself, the focus of which remains a complete mystery.

Alberta Transportation will upgrade highways in Westlock County this year. Representatives from the ministry told county council Jan. 24 that paving will get underway on Highway 661, from Highway 776 to the County of Barrhead border this summer.
