A Clyde man is dead following a farming accident early last week. On April 15 at 8:20 p.m. Westlock RCMP responded to a farming fatality on a rural property near Clyde.

Mike Febbraro said speed and alcohol were not factors, and the driver likely dozed off or was distracted and could not regain control after his trailer caught the edge of the road.

Alberta Education has approved the installation of a new $300,000 modular classroom at Eleanor Hall School to deal with the school’s burgeoning enrolment, and the Pembina Hills school division will pay a quarter of the bill.

It won’t be much longer before Westlock County will resolve its peat-burning ban endeavour. On April 16, county councillors are planning to hold a special council meeting to pass first reading of the county’s new Fire Protection Bylaw.

Hank Williams (portrayed by Gil Risling) gets the crowd into it at the Louisiana Hayride show on April 6 at the Westlock and District Community Hall. The show was a tribute concert for some of the great musicians of the past, including Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley.

Westlock County councillors are unhappy with the Westlock Foundation’s requisition request for 2013 despite knowing it would be considerably higher than last year.

As the snow melts away, Westlock residents will likely start to see public works crews out on the streets working to smooth out the potholes.
