While 2016 has been spent celebrating the last 100 years of Westlock’s history, a new project unveiled homecoming weekend July 1-3 will help give residents 50 years from now a window into present-day Westlock.

Complete with bouncy castles, sports and a brand new lawnmower racing event, Jarvie Days was back and with a youthful appeal July 23-24.

More than 200 car enthusiasts flocked to Westlock over the weekend to take in Precision Collision Repair and Restoration’s show N’ shine held July 22-23.

An administrator with more than 40 years experience is Westlock County’s new interim manager. Pat Vincent will serve until the county up a maximum term of three months so the municipality can hire a permanent CAO.

Last Saturday, Flatbush’s usually quiet Community Association Complex was packed with campers, concert-goers and a whole mess of rock ‘n’ roll for the hamlet’s sixth annual Flatbush Rocks music festival.

Jarvie Days are back for another year of fun and sun with a brand new focus on family-friendly entertainment.

Cars and trucks, both old and new, took centre stage at the 29th annual Westlock Wheels of Class Show N’ Shine held July 10.

Many families with roots in Westlock returned for the homecoming weekend, but for two members of the Westgate family the trip had special significance. After all, they put the ‘West’ in Westlock.

Town of Westlock residents, current and former, answered the call to homecoming and the town’s 100th anniversary over Canada Day long weekend.

Flatbush Rocks will return next month for one more year of barbecue, beer and rock ’n’ roll.
