The Canadian country music scene’s Bass Player of the Year is a familiar face around Westlock, having taught guitar lessons here and occasionally performed around town.

A woman was sent to hospital and an Edmonton man is facing drunk-driving charges after leaving the bar in Fawcett and driving off the road. Westlock RCMP Cpl. Lee Grieco-Savoy said police got a call on Aug. 31 at 2:13 a.m.

With the September long weekend behind us, Westlock’s two museums have shut their doors following what was described as an average season.

The annual Terry Fox run is a staple in this community, drawing dozens of runners, walkers and bikers each year while raising money in the process. This year on Sept. 14, one local man hopes to up the ante and make it a bit more challenging.
