Yee-haw! It’s Highridge Rodeo time again. So get saddled up for the rodeo that just seems to get bigger each year, attracting competitors as young as two to cowboys in their 60s and much over.

Four of Athabasca’s best young golfers have proven they’re among the province’s best by qualifying for the Frank Lindsay Alberta Junior Boys Championships, which began yesterday.

The smaller they are, the more fun they have. At least that was the case for the New Trends Snipers, a collection of three-to-four year old soccer players that had lots of fun learning the basics of the game this spring.

They needed to overcome an early deficit, but the Westlock Red Lions got back into the win column with a tight 3-1 win over the visiting Sherwood Park Athletics at Keller Field last Wednesday.

Westlock’s under-18 girls soccer team wrapped up its strong regular season with two games Sunday at home against Athabasca. The first game ended in a 2-0 for Westlock, while the second game started at 3 p.m.

The Trappers squirts girls team from Athabasca Minor Ball played their last games of the season at a year-end tournament right here in town last weekend.
