Duane Arthur Grams

July 14, 1954 - November 11, 2021

A friend, a beloved brother and a prominent businessman in the town of Barrhead has passed away. Duane suffered a long battle with a neurological disease called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). For years before his condition was diagnosed, Duane was having problems with his balance and usual abilities. After many visits with doctors and specialist, it was discovered he had this very rare disease, which is not genetic, nor lifestyle-related.

Duane leaves to mourn his five siblings, Karen (Leonard) Card, Lauren. Cherdarchuk, Les (Donna) Grams, Jean (Paul) Morris and Lois (Brian) Schulz plus numerous nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his father and mother, Arthur and Erna Grams and his brother-in-law, Dick Cherdarchuk.

Duane started his very successful business career in 1977 when he, with the help of his cousin, Brian Wilkinson, opened Barrhead Glass & Mirror. Duane later moved the business from the Industrial Park to a location in the center of Barrhead where it continued to grow and flourish until his retirement in 2015. An active member of the community Duane was a proud sponsor of local sports, including hockey, ball, curling and golf. As well, he also participated in golf, curling, and in his younger year’s ball. He also loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with friends to different parts of the world.

Duane will be long remembered for his sense of humor and sharp wit. The laughter we shared with him, gave us many memorable good times. We can imagine the joyful reunions Duane is now having with our parents and loved ones who’ve gone before. Our beloved brother – You will be missed. He was a good friend and brother who has left us way too early.

Donations in Duane’s memory may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or charity of one’s choice.
