What’s the point of Westlock County councillors meeting with agriculture minister Oneil Carlier? Last week, the ag minister met with Westlock County council to discuss a range of issues.

The calendar might say that January is the start of the new year, but the fall sure feels a whole lot more like it.

Strictly speaking, the Pool Pay it Forward and its sister group Making Waves – Yes For Progress are both right. A vote in favour of the town’s and now the county’s borrowing bylaw by residents is a positive vote.

Sometimes, despite all of the fact checking, double-checking and re-checking that goes on behind-the-scenes, sometimes you can get things wrong. The devil is in the details as they say.

Dear Editor, I don’t get worked up very often as a rule to want to write to the Leader, but after a close call on August 12th about 4 p.m. on Hwy.

Generally speaking, we’re not big fans of petitions. To scrawl your signature on a page alongside three dozen others takes very little effort or forethought, and barely shows any commitment to, or even an understanding of, the issue at hand.

The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees Local 069, which represents Athabasca University’s support staff, is very concerned about recent comments bringing into question the viability of the university in the town of Athabasca.

Re: “Library Board refuses move to new school site,” Aug. 4 edition Athabasca Advocate This is a very catchy heading indeed. However, it is entirely misleading.

If nothing else, at least give Town of Athabasca chief administrative officer Josh Pyrcz points for creativity.
