Dear Editor, Many people have weighed in regarding the pros and cons of a swimming pool in Barrhead. There are some that are firmly against it but it seems to me that most people are in support.

It’s kind of an open secret that the Town of Athabasca’s council is split evenly into two rival camps.

Leave it to the sports pages to provide inspiration. This past weekend the inaugural Hot Karl Memorial Hockey Tournament dominated the Athabasca Regional Multiplex.

If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

As a member of the younger generation, I fall into the category of those who never really saw the importance of voting in an election.

Dear Editor, The foolishness with the proposed swimming pool has bothered me for months. Thanks to the efforts of many people, we are finally getting more information. I have a problem with the pool as proposed by the Town.

The countdown is on and we’re now less than two weeks away from the Town of Westlock’s Oct. 5 municipal byelection. Candidates Murtaza Jamaly, Pierre Ouimet, and Benita Pedersen are well along their respective campaign trails.

Well done to mayor Ralph Leriger and the team at the Town of Westlock who worked on bringing Kiewit Construction Canada to the municipality. We think it’s a pretty big deal in a number of ways.

Whether or not a certain topic or issue put forward by the municipal, provincial or federal government concerns a person, each member of the community affected has an obligation to cast their vote, and to be heard.
