I must admit, I didn’t see this one coming. When I walked out of the Woodlands County council chambers on May 5, I truly thought the aquatic centre project was officially dead.

Athabasca town and county councils are each working with a different private enterprise towards the development of additional non-subsidized seniors housing in the community.

There is something that seems a bit odd about a municipal government raising taxes just so they can put away around $900,000 for spending sometime down the road.

At the first regular council meeting of each month, the council of both the town and county of Barrhead invite a member of the local clergy to recite a non-denominational prayer or invocation.

Orange is the new blue. At least in Alberta it is. Last week Alberta made a change that no one could have ever seen in a crystal ball, they chose NDP.

Dear Editor, The Barrhead Art Club hosted the Alberta Community Art Clubs Association (ACACA) Northern Zone show on May 1, 2 and 3 at the Barrhead Seniors Drop In Centre.

Did anyone expect that? We sure didn’t. Around the Westlock News office a fair bit of time has been spent over last few months discussing the budget, the election and the outcomes of both, and none of us saw the evening of Tuesday, May 5 coming.

Today just happens to mark the coming together of a pair of things that stress people out – voting in an election and having to file their income taxes.

Studies show that bullying leaves behind more than just bad memories, it can scar someone for life.
