Dear Editor, The Barrhead Art Club hosted the Alberta Community Art Clubs Association (ACACA) Northern Zone show on May 1, 2 and 3 at the Barrhead Seniors Drop In Centre.

Did anyone expect that? We sure didn’t. Around the Westlock News office a fair bit of time has been spent over last few months discussing the budget, the election and the outcomes of both, and none of us saw the evening of Tuesday, May 5 coming.

Today just happens to mark the coming together of a pair of things that stress people out – voting in an election and having to file their income taxes.

Studies show that bullying leaves behind more than just bad memories, it can scar someone for life.

Congratulations to (fill-in-the-blank) on winning the Barrhead-Morinville-Westlock riding.

Today, Tuesday, May 5, we have a job to do. It’s not spring cleaning, unless you’re one for metaphors. Our task is simple — we must go and discharge our duty as enfranchised citizens of a free democracy by voting in the provincial election.

Politicans are accused, most of the time, of not getting things done right the first time.

So, Jim Prentice, Jeff Johnson and the rest of the PCs feel it’s necessary to get a mandate for the budget that was brought down in April.

Re: Not much offered up to solve AU’s problems (Apr. 21, www.athabascaadvocate.com). A dismissive title in my opinion.

Government employees are people too. They have the same rights and freedoms that everyday citizens have. Unless they work for the Alberta government.
