Dear Editor, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the family of Bert Proft upon hearing the news of his passing away on May 20, 2013.

Slowly but steadily the idea of a community garden in Barrhead has sprouted and come to life. The garden held its official grand opening May 18, where the community could come and check out the area.

There was drama aplenty. There was passion. There was courage. And, of course, much mud did fly and many engines did howl. What was largely missing – and nobody cared a bit – was dust.

It’s safe to say we are finally free of winter’s icy grip, and its driving hazards. But that doesn’t mean we can put pedal to metal and drive without a care in the world.
