Hubert Lake Fire update: residents on east side of Pembina permitted to return

Westlock County have announced that residents from the east side of the Pembina River in the Hubert Lake Wildland Provincial Park are permitted to return home.

Westlock County have announced that residents from the east side of the Pembina River in the Hubert Lake Wildland Provincial Park are permitted to return home.

Residents whose homes are located on the west side of the Pembina are still under a mandatory evacuation order and are not able to return.

The Hubert Lake area was evacuated on May 29 at 7:03 p.m. due a wildfire that has been burning since May 28 which has grown to approximately 2,924 hectares.

There has been no observed growth on the wildfire since May 30 but it is still classified as out of control.

Residents on the east side of the Pembina who return home are advised to remain vigilant and on alert.

The next update on the fire is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. today.
