Joanne Peckham has declared herself as an unofficial candidate in the race for Christine Nelson's spot on Athabasca Town Council. "I have worked alongside of many great leaders, presidents and councillors, " she said.

Last week came the snow and the cold to remind us that Christmas is fast approaching, and this Friday comes another, much more pleasant reminder of the upcoming holiday season: Athabasca’s Moonlight Madness.

By 32 years old, Christy’s life was in shambles. She had lost everything after more than ten years of alcohol abuse; her children, spouse, home, friends, family, and freedom. “My life was a complete mess,” she says.

Christine Nelson tendered her resignation from Athabasca Town Council on Nov. 9, as she will be relocating to Edmonton. It was announced at last Tuesday’s town council meeting that a by-election will take place in the new year.
