The trial of accused murderer Norman John Jerrett began on Monday, Feb. 2, in Edmonton.

The Barrhead Art Gallery will be featuring something a little different this month, youth work. A piece hangs in the Art Gallery that was carefully created by McKenna Klatt, 9. Klatt said she enjoys painting simply because it is fun.

Four years after a former Pembina Hills superintendent left the division under mysterious circumstances, the reason is now clear — $29,000 in fraudulent expense claims. Richard Harvey pleaded guilty to fraud over $5,000 in a Newfoundland courtroom Jan. 22, and he was sentenced to one year of house arrest. Judge Lori Marshall also ordered him to repay $29,061.71 within 30 days, according to a CBC news report.
