HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed American defensive back Lawrence Woods III and Canadian linebacker Enock Makonzo on Monday. Woods III was recently released by the B.C. Lions while Makonzo was let go by the Edmonton Elks.

MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes signed former NFL receiver Preston Williams on Friday. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Joel Dublanko is looking forward to calling Edmonton home. The Edmonton Elks took the rugged linebacker first overall in the CFL draft Tuesday night.

VANCOUVER — Christian Covington is coming home. The veteran defensive lineman signed with the B.C. Lions on Wednesday. The CFL club originally drafted Covington, a Vancouver native, in the fifth round, No. 43 overall, in the 2015 CFL draft.

WINNIPEG — Lyle Bauer, a former CFL player and executive, has died. He was 65. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the team Bauer played for and later served as CEO, announced Bauer's death on its Instagram page Wednesday.

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Redblacks acquired Canadian long-snapper Peter Adjey from the Edmonton Elks on Wednesday for a 2025 third-round pick. The six-foot-three, 230-pound Adjey appeared in 36 regular-season games over the last two seasons with Edmonton.

TORONTO — Kevin Eiben and Will Fields will share defensive co-ordinator duties this season with the Toronto Argonauts.

TORONTO — Joel Dublanko didn't have to wait long to learn where he'll start his CFL career. The Edmonton Elks selected the rugged linebacker first overall in the CFL draft Tuesday night.

TORONTO — The Edmonton Elks selected linebacker Eteva Mauga-Clements first overall in the CFL's global draft Tuesday. The six-foot-four, 218-pound Mauga-Clements, from American Samoa, last played football at the University of Nebraska in 2022.

Chris Jones says he has fielded offers for some of his 2024 CFL draft picks, but hasn't found one to his liking. However, the Edmonton Elks head coach and general manager is keeping an open mind up to the start of the draft Tuesday night.
