Tryouts for the North Central Bulls AA hockey club Aug. 24–25 “went pretty darned good,” according to principal coordinator Terry Lovelace.

Though the Edwin Parr Composite (EPC) Pacers football team lost an exhibition game against the Whitecourt Cats last Thursday, head coach Pete Burden said the game was a good proving ground for the Pacers’ new linebacking core and offence package.

For its fourth year running, there will be some changes in Barrhead’s annual Queen of Hearts Triathlon. The event, which is specifically for women, will take place Saturday, Sept. 21. Last year about 76 ladies faced the triathlon challenge.

Barrhead’s Pro North Hockey Conditioning Camp isn’t just about what happens on the ice. Parents and players were both in for a treat off the ice as well, as head coach of the Los Angeles Kings Darryl Sutter was named as this year’s guest speaker.

On Wednesday, Sept. 4, Athabasca-Sturgeon-Redwater MLA Jeff Johnson will host his fourth annual Road to Hope Golf Classic at the Athabasca Golf and Country Club, an event that raises funds for the Road to Hope Community Support Foundation.
