It was a close game. Despite a decision by coach Jared Stranaghan to pull goaltender Keaton Branden late in the third period, the New Sarepta Eagles defeated the Barrhead Pirates 4-2 in a bantam regular season match-up, at the Agrena Nov. 10.

The Athabasca U10 soccer team celebrated its first-place shutout season in the Tricounty league with a medal presentation at Athabasca Regional Multiplex on Nov. 6.

The Boyle School senior girls volleyball team was the runner-up in its annual home tournament Nov. 3-4 after a close final. The team played its way to the final of the seven-team tournament but lost in straight sets, 25-21 and 28-26, versus George P.

It wasn’t their best outing of the young season, but they did enough for the win. That is how head coach Allan Measures characterized a two to one victory against the Devon Drillers at the Barrhead Agrena Nov. 3.

For the uninitiated spectator at a mini-tournament at Barrhead Elementary School (BES) it might have looked like the sport the teams were playing was volleyball, but they would have been wrong.

The R.F. Staples JV boys volleyball team capped their year with a gold medal at the Alberta School Athletics Association (ASAA) North Central Zone Championships. Hosted at R.F. Staples Nov.

St. Mary School’s senior boys volleyball team swam to gold in Hinton Oct. 27-28 while the seniors girls held steady in fifth.
