No, it isn’t shopping or driving or the weather this time – it’s the always fun-to-watch play we call Alberta politics. Shock and awe is one way to describe last week’s walk across the legislature by nine now former Wildrose MLAs.

The Town of Barrhead and Barrhead County councils gave residents an early Christmas present, a new Aquatic Centre. On Wednesday, Dec. 10 at a special joint council meeting, the two councils came to a tentative agreement on a new pool building.

It was bound to happen wasn’t it? With the Oilers on a losing streak that seemed impenetrable, one more loss and he was sure to go. After 113 games with the team, Dallas Eakins has been sent packing.

Dear Editor, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the two ladies who so graciously collected all my personal belongings that had fallen out of my purse outside of Sandermans Hardware while shopping.

Dear Editor, On behalf of the business community in Barrhead, the Chamber of Commerce would like to thank both the Town and County employees for all their hard work over the past few weeks clearing and maintaining our roads.

With regards to the Town of Barrhead interfering with private business in the fitness industry: In my opinion, there is a void in town that is not being met by local businesses and I am happy to speak up about it.

When I was young we had a tradition in our household. The first snowfall of every year, we would run out the door, with our boots half on, coats unzipped, hats lopsided, and we would flop in the snow, flapping our arms furiously. We made snow angels.

Dear Editor, I would like to extend a big thank you to the two young gentlemen who helped me to my feet as I had fallen on the icy sidewalk on Main Street and was unable to get up by myself. I certainly was grateful for their assistance.

Dear Editor, About seven weeks ago I switched from Epcor to Just Energy. About a week ago I got a return slip for a credit of $116.94. I phoned them to see why and they said I had overpaid but I would get my return in about eight-10 weeks.
