Dear Editor, On behalf of the business community in Barrhead, the Chamber of Commerce would like to thank both the Town and County employees for all their hard work over the past few weeks clearing and maintaining our roads.

With regards to the Town of Barrhead interfering with private business in the fitness industry: In my opinion, there is a void in town that is not being met by local businesses and I am happy to speak up about it.

If all goes according to the county's plan, the Tawatinaw Valley ski hill will be open for business on Dec. 26. This is undoubtedly good news for residents — whether they're skiers themselves or they simply don't want to see this excellent facility sit idle for another year. At the same time, residents should be wary of making any concrete plans for Boxing Day — the county's plan doesn't appear to be a very good one.
