Hundreds helped to kick off the Christmas season in Westlock Friday night for the annual Christmas Light Up.

One Westlock County family is homeless following a chimney fire that spread and destroyed their home. Westlock Rural fire chief Drew Beattie said his department received the call about a chimney fire in a log house at around noon on Thursday, Nov.

Several buildings were evacuated and several streets closed off in downtown Westlock after a semi truck and trailer collided with a power pole at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

Westlock County is edging closer to resolving its peat burning issue. At the Nov. 5 council meeting, the Westlock Landowners Right to Farm and Improve Land Association presented a report to council through Coun. Jim Wiese.

One man is dead after being found inside a home with “extremely high” carbon monoxide levels. At around 3:50 p.m. on Oct. 28, Westlock RCMP responded to a residence about eight kilometres east of Pickardville.
