The third annual Grassland Volunteer Fire Department open house and car show is set to take place on Father’s Day, June 15. Fire chief Mel Peterson said the car show is free of charge, and any vehicle qualifies for the show.

Paul Ponich has become the new Athabasca County Division 7 (Grassland area) councillor after being the only one to come forward during the nomination period on June 9. “I’ve always had a desire to return to municipal politics,” Ponich said.
