A group of youth have come together to voice their concerns about the state of the Barrhead skate park, and are seeking solutions to the deterioration of the facility.

Drive past the Northplex plant and you will see workers busy on a two-storey house overlooking the road. Against a clear spring sky, its burgundy walls create a pleasing contrast.

When the bus left Blue Heron Support Services at 10 a.m. on a cool, slightly overcast Wednesday it was packed. On board were 35 people, from Blue Heron staff and clients to parents, guardians and concerned community members.

Budgets of community access programs across the province that provide services to individuals with disabilities will be cut, including that of Barrhead’s own Blue Heron.

At 6:55 a.m. on Saturday, Bryan Morrow left his house. His wife, Chelsey, and two children were already up, and another day on the farm beckoned. All appeared normal.

Barrhead Mayor Brian Schulz has voiced dismay at reports that dozens of Blue Heron jobs could be axed because of budget cuts.
