The spring football season is over in Westlock. On May 31, the Westlock Thunderbirds football team hosted its annual jamboree, bringing in teams from Vegreville and Whitecourt to get some game action in before the mandatory summer break.

Barrhead Composite High School hosted the junior high Divisional Track Meet last Tuesday. Students competed in several distance and sprinting running events, discus, shot put, javelin, high jump, triple jump, and long jump.

The season continues for the Barrhead Midget Orioles, who played host to three teams over the weekend. Barrhead came out with three losses in their pocket, but head coach Steve Hunter said the weekend was a learning experience for the team.

Edwin Parr Composite School’s Brady Ballard is heading to the Canadian Junior Football League next month after being selected to attend the signing camp for the Edmonton Wildcats.
