The Barrhead Atom Hawks dominated a home tournament over the weekend, winning every game and taking the championship.

The AA North Central Bulls midget hockey team has had a challenging season so far, and last Friday they lost another game. The team played at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex against Edmonton’s Knights of Columbus Colts and lost 8-1.

Athabasca will be in the spotlight next year as snowmobilers from across the province descend on the area. The Athabasca River Runners Snowmobile Club is hosting the 2014 Alberta Snowmobile Association (ASA) jamboree.

A new submission wrestling club has started up in Westlock and it’s looking for new members over the age of 15 interested in practising a fighting style commonly seen in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
