The Town of Barrhead can already consider itself a winner after being named one of ten finalists for the Kraft Celebration Tour. The nomination will provide Canadians with a unique look at a small community in central Alberta.

The Town and County of Barrhead are travelling down a dangerous road when it comes to the recent pool situation.

Community groups in Fawcett and Jarvie will face a tough decision in the days, weeks and months to come following a pair of meetings this week. At issue are the fates of the school buildings in those communities — Jarvie School and W.R. Frose School.

The word “hero” means many different things to many different people.

The current swimming pool situation facing the Town and County of Barrhead could prove beneficial to improving future inter-municipal negotiations.

Dear Editor, Those who come to this country and work hard should have a fair and reasonable chance at becoming Canadian citizens. Equally, Canada should not exploit vulnerable people from abroad who arrive on our shores.

The blame game has begun regarding the record-low voter turnout in the Fort McMurray-Athabasca byelection. Some call the 15.

This year’s valedictory address from Anika Asfeldt at the Edwin Parr Composite graduation last Saturday was a refreshing break from speeches mining the “you can do anything” message that is so often rehashed at graduations.

School’s out for summer, and for this year’s Grade 12 students high school is out forever.
