The state of education has come a long way in the last 50 years. Chalkboards were replaced first with white dry-erase boards and now with smart boards hooked into computer systems in nearly every classroom.

It’s amazing what motivated people can do when they have a good idea. Cases in point: the Blue Suede Music Festival and the BellZ Edge hockey camp. The masterminds behind these relatively new ventures are Trudy Taphorn and Gord Bell.

Dear Editor, Yes, Barrhead needs a pool. But why are we spending $15,000,000? Let’s make some comparisons: Whitecourt built a $20,000,000 pool in 2010 Whitecourt has a population of 9,605 (2011) and growing at roughly 7 per cent annually.
