Happy Canada Day. As we celebrate our nation’s 147th birthday, perhaps we should take the time to think about how we got to where we are today and where we are headed in the future.

Well done Clyde! As the sun set on the village’s annual Summer Solstice Festival, held on the longest day of the year, so too did the curtain close on the municipality’s much-anticipated 100th birthday. It did not disappoint.

Barrhead may just be one step closer to getting a new aquatic centre.

Dear Editor, I’m writing to express my disappointment in the recent street festival. Though there were many excellent activities for families and great bargains to be had, the mess left behind on mainstreet is a terrible disappointment.

Dear Editor, On June 4, 2014 - three members of the RCMP were senselessly murdered in Moncton, NB. Two others were wounded by gunfire and the community of Moncton was terrorized for over 30 hours.

Right now, there is a small movement happening in Barrhead and Westlock to restore the Sparrow’s Hope project, a shelter for women fleeing abusive relationships.
